Need money for college?
Apply now for our member scholarships

College is expensive. Why not lessen the financial burden on yourself — and your parents — with a $1,000 scholarship offered
exclusively to Travis Credit Union members?

We encourage graduating seniors to apply for one of 20 Mary Keith Duff Memorial Scholarships. Named after the first woman to serve on the Travis Credit Union Board of Directors, these cash awards are for graduating seniors who have been accepted into college for fall 2008.

High school seniors who live in our 12-county service region are eligible for the scholarship. If you are not yet a member, you can join online or at any branch before you submit your application.

To apply, you must be graduating this summer with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0, bound for a two- or four-year college or university, and be a member in good standing at Travis Credit Union.

Along with the scholarship application form, you must submit a 250-word essay describing what brought you to this point, extra-curricular high school activities, intended academic curriculum and post-college goals. You’ll also need to submit a certified copy of your high school transcript and one letter of reference from a teacher.

Applications will be judged on content and scored based on these percentages:

  • GPA, 30 percent

  • Honors and awards, 15 percent

  • Employment and community
    service, 15 percent

  • Leadership and extracurricular
    activities, 15 percent

  • Essay, 25 percent

  • Financial need consideration
    (optional)

Scholarship applications are available at all of our branches and online.* Completed applications must be received no later than the close of business on March 14, 2008. You may deliver your completed application to any TCU branch or mail it to:

P.O. Box 2069
Vacaville, CA 95696-2069

Scholarship winners will be notified by June 1, 2008. Please see the current application for exact dates and deadlines.

* Applications and transcripts will not be returned and will become the property of Travis Credit Union. TCU senior officers and volunteers and their families are not eligible. Winners will be chosen by the Scholarship Committee. Illegible entries may be disqualified. Winners will be notified by mail or phone and agree to have their names and photos published in TCU promotional materials. After confirmation of acceptance and registration at a two-year community college or a four-year college or university with 12 or more credits or units, award checks will be issued to the scholarship recipient. Not valid where prohibited by law.
